Officials in Norton are not happy. In April of 2011 the state?s division of Capital Asset Management informed the town that they were declaring the 59.32 acres located on Hill Street that abuts the industrial park, a surplus. The state wanted to know if Norton was interested in purchasing the land.

Dorothy Helmreich, former Norton teacher, local volunteers, dies at 78
The Norton board of selectmen took a moment to acknowledge the loss of a valued member of the community, one whose family has often served Norton over the decades. Dorothy Helmreich, 78, a former schoolteacher and long-time Norton resident, passed away Jan. 26. She is the wife of finance committee Chairman Paul Helmreich.
