Reading project starts with balloons in Alabama, ends in Midland, NC
Boaz Elementary school in Alabama released 500 red balloons, as part of a reading project, and a few of them are appearing in North Carolina. The students wanted whoever found the balloon to call or write, sharing their favorite book title. Boaz Elementary Principal Beth Scott said it rained all day when they released the balloons last Wednesday.

Bomb squads train in Cabarrus County
Bomb squads from across North Carolina are getting a refresher course in Cabarrus County this week. The technicians gathered in a Midland field for training. The FBI brought together eight of North Carolina's 15 bomb squads, from Wilkes to Mecklenburg to Gaston Counties.
