    Fairmont is filling vacant seat on council
    Letters of interest and resumes for the now-vacant 7th District Fairmont City Council seat will be accepted for the next two weeks, from today at 8:30 a.m. through Wednesday, July 16, at noon. Letters of intent and resumes should be submitted to Janet Keller, Fairmont City Clerk, Third Floor, Room 312, 200 Jackson St., J. Harper Meredith Building, Fairmont, WV 26554.
    Fairmont seeking applicants for vacancy
    Fairmont is still seeking applicants for the 7th District seat vacancy on Fairmont City Council. So far, two applicants have submitted their materials for review. Robert Garcia submitted his letter of resignation from the 7th District seat Monday June 30, citing ?circumstances beyond his control.?

    The city will begin accepting letters of intent and resumes for the 7th District Fairmont City Council seat vacancy tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
    Drivers asked to be aware of traffic patterns near closed Fourth Street Bridge
    Fairmont officials want to remind residents to not attempt to turn onto Fourth Street to use the Fourth Street Bridge. The bridge has been closed since Monday when a West Virginia Department of Transportations (WV DOT) report sent to the city changed the bridge?s rating from poor condition to critical condition and recommended its closure.
    City OKs ordinance to update fire code
    At Tuesday?s Fairmont City Council meeting, council approved an ordinance that will update Fairmont?s fire prevention code to comply with recent changes to state code. Capt. Ed Simmons, fire prevention officer with the Fairmont Fire Department, said that the changes were mostly routine.
