Ansonia native, Gen. Samuel Jaskilka, dies
Ansonia, Conn. General Samuel Jaskilka, who served as Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps, died on Jan. 15, 2012. He retired from the Corps in 1978 after 36 years of service. He was buried Thursday, Jan. 26 in Arlington National Cemetery.

Man charged in Shelton home invasion
Raymond Cardona, 30, of Ansonia has been charged by Shelton police with home invasion, first-degree robbery and second-degree assault. He was arrested Thursday in connection with the home invasion on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 at an apartment on Howe Avenue.

Conn. Representatives push to make stealing war plaques federal crime
Connecticut Congressional leaders announced Thursday that they are pushing a proposed law that would make stealing war veteran plaques and transporting them across state lines a federal crime. The penalty would involve time in prison and or fines up to $250,000.
